Aerial and DSTV satellite television
Satellite dishes are fast replacing the old analogue aerials, ensuring that signal and service are of the highest quality.
South Africa currently limits analogue aerial services to SABC and E-TV, as few TV channels are available free to air in SA. If you intend distributing an analogue signal to multiple points like your lounge, kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom, etc. A TV aerial has its advantages, as it can be split into multiple locations at a minimal cost, as the feed can tap from a central point.
A digital DSTV satellite dish will need each TV point to run back to the LNB on the dish. If 2 points, 4 points or even 8 points are required, then we use a Dual, Quad or Octo LNB respectively. Connecting back a multi-switch amplifier can extend to provide as many satellite points you require.
In South Africa, many of the new televisions have digital DVB-T2 tuners so your TV can connect directly with free to air services, ie. SABC and E-TV, without a decoder. If you would like premium services, you will need a satellite dish and decoder and pay a DSTV monthly subscription, or use the free Open View HD Service with 20 channels including public broadcasting, with some in HD.
If you experience pixilation or signal loss on your TV, it could be as a result of various issues, not always to do with your satellite dish or decoder. It could simply be poor weather or the TV aerial not being installed properly. In our experience, Satellite TV is more reliable and cost effective, than the older analogue TV’s. IPTV (Internet Protocol Television)
These are video services broadcasted over an IP Network instead of the traditional Satellite TV. It is the future of broadcast as IP Networks allow for other services like VoIP, computer data exchange, digital signage, CCTV or internet access on the same network.
